William S. Gordon Jr (Will), born in Easton, Maryland in 1978. His family settled only 10 miles away in 1660 on a historically significant property, making him a 13th generation Eastern Shoreman. His mother is a gardener and his father a farmer. Needless to say, landscaping and the Eastern Shore are in his blood. Will moved to The Piedmont of Virginia at a young age, and Will learned the ways of another region rich in history and landscape while growing up on working farm that raised beef cattle and crops. Jefferson’s Virginia provided an education and appreciation of historic houses and their gardens.
After returning home to Easton to live with his grandmother on her farm, Will founded Wye Gardens in 2006 with a small but very reputable client list that comprised a handful of Talbot, Dorchestor, and Queen Annes’ Counties finest properties. Will recognized the need for a unique landscape firm that was trustworthy, hardworking, knowledgable, and discreet. He has trained his crew of 7 skilled, hard-working men how to represent the company in this manor. The staff, under Will’s tutelage and direction approach the maintenance and care of every property with individual care that each customer deserves and expects. They take pride in doing each task required and especially in the finished product. Will’s work has taken him to the high country desert of New Mexico to oversee the installation of a client’s garden, installation, and existing tree care. He has worked on the Vice Presidential garden at the Navel Observatory in Washington D.C., and on courtyard gardens in Manhattan townhomes. Wye Gardnes has restored 19th century walls in central Virginia. Although, Will enjoys his time and takes pride landscaping all of these wonderful locations across our great nation; nothing makes him happier than when he is near his home on the Eastern Shore.
Will is married to Charlotte Lee Gordon and has two children, a son Bennett and daughter Mary. They reside on the beautiful Wye River.
